Text Box: Dog Days Wine Tour
What happens when you combine quiet country roads with quality rest stops at a couple of wineries, then throw in a super cookout and lots of friendly people? That’s what you get in the middle of August – the Dog Days Wine Tour.

This one day ride, on Saturday, August 16, starts just off the circle in LaGrange, Ohio, at Lions Park. LaGrange is located about 30 miles west of Cleveland, at the junction of routes 301 and 303. The tour features routes of 38, 45 and 65 miles in length. The terrain in this area is mostly flat with some gently rolling areas and a couple of good short climbers. Our routes will take you through pastoral countryside featuring lots of corn, soy beans, and cows. We don’t charge extra for the relaxed atmosphere or great scenery. Some of our roads are still barely two lanes wide and you might have to look hard to find other vehicles on the road, except maybe for a farm tractor.

This is more than an ordinary bike ride. The 35-mile route stops at one winery while the 45- and 65-mile routes will have stops at two wineries. Surprised that our area might have wineries? Just wait until you try some of these elixirs. These wineries feature many award-winning selections and some special selections and blends that are very popular for oenophiles of all tastes. While you’re stopped at the wineries you can sample some of the wines. We’ll have healthy food there too. If you want to purchase any wine we’ll tote it back to the start for you for your enjoyment at the cookout or later in your home.

After your tour join us in our fabulous cookout prepared by award-winning master chefs. We’ll offer you a feast to remember with chicken, bratwurst, salads, fresh locally grown corn on the cob and tales of the ride from your day on the road.

Your host for this event is the Silver Wheels Cycling Club, a 200-member club of cyclists who know their stuff when it comes to making an event special. The costs for the ride is only $15 ($20 after August 9), the cookout is only $10 and you can get an optional tour tee shirt for only $10. You can conveniently register online by clicking the button below. Credit cards must use PayPal. Or print out the brochure and send in your registration by check.
