Welcome To Silver Wheels Cycling Club
Silver Wheels is a recreational Bicycling club serving members in the northern Ohio region. Most of what the club offers can be discovered on the pages within this website.
If you are interested in joining Silver Wheels, you can do that right here by completing a membership application and even making your dues payment through our secure online system with your credit card. Once we process your application we will send you a directory and you can begin receiving club information. Current members can also renew their membership there.
The most important thing we do is offer a wide variety of rides during our main biking season of March through November. These rides are published monthly in our calendar of events. In addition to rides we have monthly meetings and offer an education program, also listed in the calendar.
Many of our rides are routinely offered each week but we also offer rides that are unique. These Special Rides are more touring in nature and will take us to points outside our immediate area. Some involve overnight stays and some include camping options.
One way we keep our members informed of events and other news is by publishing a monthly newsletter, called Rollin’. The newsletter is a potpourri of items submitted by members and occasionally articles are sent in by other authors. For more immediate communication, members keep in touch through our Forum, an online email system for posting discussions and impromptu rides.
Silver Wheels has a variety of merchandise items available for purchase. These can be purchased at monthly meetings and online. Some items are free to members, for example out Tee shirt, which is earned after a new member completes the first 50 miles of riding with the club. The club jersey is proudly worn by members and is easily identifiable on the road. Orders for new jerseys are taken periodically throughout the season.
We keep an album of club photos taken during events throughout the year and post them on this site so others can vicariously enjoy the trips also. Photos are submitted by members through contacting the webmaster. Don't miss our Members in the News on our Member Area Page.
Silver Wheels is administered by an elected board of directors, which in turn selects officers. Also included on the board are the Membership Chairman and the Ride Chairman, forming a total board of ten leaders. The board meets monthly during the cycling season and once over the winter in a retreat, during which the next year’s goals are developed and activities planned.
Silver Wheels has affiliate status with other regional and national organizations. These are indicated on our links page along with other organizations, bike shops, clubs, and companies that serve the cycling industry. |
